Subject: [CR]WAS: Any way of telling age on an Armstrong? NOW: Cinelli B.B. oiler port?

Steve wrote..

...there's an oil port on the Bb shell, but there isn't a metal sleeve for the bottom bracket like the only other bike I've worked on with an oil port.

Warren replied..

...are you referring to the Bayliss-Wiley bottom brackets with the cartridge style sleeve and cups? The BB for these are usually without threads.

Let me know if you need one. I have a couple of extras. Warren Young

The Cinelli I am in the process of restoring has two threaded holes in the B.B. shell; one on top and one underneath. Were these for grease fittings or oiler cups like Steve and Warren are referring to? How did these actually function on the Cinelli? Was there a sleeve type of arrangement? If they are grease fittings, how did the grease make it to the bearings? I can't imagine filling the whole B.B. with grease!

I need whatever fit those two holes in the B.B. shell, if anyone knows where I can get them.

Many thanks in advance for any help.
