>From my own personal experience, I can say that the seller is avery dependable seller, but I feel it is only correct to also mention that I am aware of a CR member who, after a number of positive bike purchases, made an unsatisfactory deal with him. I don't know the exact details of what went wrong, but do know that he wasn't fully satisfied.

The reserve is not mentioned, but I believe it to be 1300 euros, as this is what he offered me the bike for a number of months ago.

If truly a 1940 model, it would be quite interesting as this was the year that Bartali and Coppi rode side by side on the Legnano team, with both of them winning stages in the Giro of that year.

Before you decide to bid, please do however check the present level of the euro as the value of the euro has gone way up over the last month and is once again around $1.17

I always look up the website: http://www.oanda.com/converter/classic for exchange rates. Another little hint, European banks' foreign exchange charges are generally much lower than those of American banks. It is therefore often in your best interest to see if European continental sellers will accept payment in US$. Most European banks will exchange larger sums of money for their clients for a charge of between 1,5 and 2,5% over midrate of the amount to be exchanged. Compare this to the 4% over midrate which seems commonplace here in the US, without mentioning that there is generally no fixed bank charge either.
