My 1896 Iver Johnson racing tandem has 25" c-c both captain and stroker, either the pair were circus giants(in that era) or the seat post was pretty low. Same thing on my 1898 quad-stay racer.

Well, my old Davis of Dayton triplet was 23-23-23, fully lugged, with steel cotterless cranks, no less. My memory is of 1 - 3/8" tube set, and a 96" fixed gear. Fully diamond frame with lugged diagonals. I sold it to the new museum in Dayton, OH, which had a group of volunteers equipped to restore it. I have not yet been out there to see if it is on display. After a series of corporate "financial engineering" events, Davis wound up as one of the precursors of Huffy; the Huffman family were kind enough and interested enough to contribute to getting the bike to Dayton.
