Michael,

Nice to see another Canuck on the list - welcome and have fun - I have.

Maybe we can do a CR tour of the wine country of south-western Ontario sometime? ;^)

Paul Williams,
Ottawa

Hello all you fellow classic riding cyclists!

I had no idea until recently that such a cool web site existed. I own two bikes.

My workhorse is a Raleigh, from around the late seventies. I'm not exactly sure when the bike was manufactured because I bought it as a bare frame in 1980. Maybe someone can help me out with this. It is a Carlton 'Super Course 12' made from 531 tubing. It has a little decal indicating 'T.I. Team Raleigh'. Since I had to build up the frame it has a hodge podge of different parts. The front derailer is a Huret and the rear one a Suntour Vx. The hubs are Shimano 600 on Ambrosio rims. The brakes are Schwinn and the seat post and head set SR. The seat is well worn but I do recall that it was manufactured in Mexico. A very cosmopolitan bike and a joy to ride. The wife and I have logged about 1500 kilometres this year but sadly she requires a new chain ring side crank arm(170). The original was a Raleigh, anyone trying to sell one? My Sunday fair-weather bike is an Italian purebred manufactured by a rather obscure outfit from Sala Bagdanza in the Parma region. I really don't know alot about it and purchased it on a whim in 1975. It's called a 'Romani' and apparently 1974 was their 50th anniversary. The bike is sleek but not ornate and at the time fit my budget. It's all Campy 'Nouvo Record'(1973 stamped) and the rims are Fiamme. Maybe someone can shed a little more light on this bike and I'm curious if they still make them. A little bit about myself. I'm 48 years old and work as a chemical analyst for a steel manufacturer in Hamilton Ontario Canada. I live in the Niagara region where I was born and raised on a fruit farm specializing in wine grapes. We are still currently farming and growing wine. I'm married (23yrs.) and we have two sons both attending university in engineering programs. The wife and I are planning to attend the ride in NC for 2004. Hope to see you then. Bye for now.

Best Wishes,
Mike Duric
