Just a few lines on this bikes' equipment. As I mentioned it has an early TA chainset with 1950's ring. The bracket is also TA. Headset is a TDC Continental. Pedals Kyokuto Top Run. Campag seatpost with Brooks B17. Sloping Cinelli stem with steel Cinelli Pista bars. Fiamme rims on L/F Campag Record track hubs. Weinmann 500 brake. Not drilled at rear and no mudguard eyes.Fully wrapped seat stay . Bocama lugs, quite plain. An eclectic mix as you can see. I am dithering as to "keeping it as found" or saving(robbing!) the TA c/set for something earlier and fitting a Campag Pista. This would mean a Campag bracket. Once you start its hard to stop going all the way with Campagnolo... All thats left is the headset and pedals. Any thoughts , comments appreciated.
The frame is 24'' and all chrome with the Gillott block lettering. This runs vertically down the front of the seatpost. There is a transfer/decal on the head.
Fr No 7304. This shows a new sequence compared to earlier Gillotts. The last frame from the sixties is 686037. Built in 1968 and the 6037th built since they started in May1945. Steven Sheffield recently sold 7100. From this I assume that Ron Cooper who built them started a new sequence in 1971 to coincide with the decade. If the guy who bought the frame off Steven reads this would you please get in touch so we can compare notes. Ron was building his own Cooper frames from his new shop in Honor Oak at this time.
