Subject: [CR]A time for protest?

Some fellow CR members may be aware that over the past few months three deejays that work at three different radio stations belonging to the Clear Channel conglomerate have advocated violence against bicyclists. The deejays have encouraged drivers to perform various acts of aggression, including throwing bottles and also cutting in front of bicyclists and slamming on the brakes of the motorist's car. With the proliferation of CR members and success of CR rides all around the country, we all need to be aware of this Clear Channel broadcast threat and I would suggest that the CR membership needs to act in self defense. Currently there is a national movement gaining momentum to have bicyclists protest directly to the Clear Channel corporate headquarters, encouraging them to take strong and decisive action against these deejays. Cyclists are also being asked to contact the FCC to demand that this agency fine Clear Channel over these incidents, as inciting violence over the airwaves is in strict violation of FCC policy and guidelines. You may also note that this story has been picked up nationally in recent days, with both the New York Times and the Associated Press reporting on this issue this past Monday. Please give this some thought and act according to your conscious, and thanks for your consideration.
