The issue of what spindle, and what cups to use for what cranks seems to come up as a problem for me, time and again. I keep getting the answer to the specific project I am on, but then have to ask the list again, with each new project. Here is my new question then:
Did Nuovo Record b.b. cups have the thicker walls, prior to the introduction of the rifled aperture in 1967 or so? (Thanks to Chuck Schmidt for the Campy timeline!)
I just received a b.b. sold as N.R., but it has thin wall Italian threaded cups. The spindle is dark steel, has the winged logo, and is precisely 113mm long and marked 70-SS-120 ... designed for 120mm spacing in the rear. I'm trying to learn how to differentiate this bottom bracket from a similar looking Gran Sport model.
