I've refrained from jumping in on this because I believe this is truly off-topic, but here goes. The protest is actually an evolving story, as some members have already mentioned. This latest round of news stories stemmed from some ugly anti-cycling broadcasts a few weeks ago here in Raleigh. Several of us, like our counterparts in other cities that had similar broadcasts, have since been active on numerous fronts to prevent similar broadcasts in other towns and cities. We've held a protest, attended municipal meetings, handed out fliers, contacted advertisers and government officials and federal regulators. So what has been achieved? We've seen favorable publicity nationwide for the cycling community. We've convinced some advertisers to pull ads. In Raleigh, we got the city council to pass a resolution encouraging cycling on city streets. Clear Channel, the corporate owner of the offending radio station, has been running PSAs on its local stations and is negotiating other terms with national cycling groups this week. The bottom line: In some small measure we have increased the awareness about the rights of cyclists. Hopefully, this will translate into safer roads for all of us as we enjoy our vintage Mercians, Paramounts, Raleighs, Lenton Grand Prix's, Holdsworths, Roberts, and yes, Masi's.

Carry on.
