Thanks for the reply, but I don't care to participate in an impromptu auction for this bike, with no indication of the asking price. The US based classic bike organizations expressly forbid this sort of selling tactics. I know you are not bound by these rules, but many of those who contacted you have already lost interest because of your methods. Good luck in selling your bikes, but it is a waste of my time and effort to participate, and most of my US colleagues are of a similar opinion. I will wait for a Baines for which the seller is honest enough to state his asking price. If you want to conduct an auction, please have the decency to use eBay.

Regards,

Jerry Moos

In reply:-

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your e-mail, and please forgive the lateness in my reply.

I was expecting to have been able to reply to all enquiries during working hours, however since putting the bikes on the web I have been inundated with interest and requests, to such an extent, that I am unable to devote the time to reply whilst at work. Additionally the company I work for is currently moving to a new facility which has caused me added time pressures.

The delay in my replies means that all the bikes are Still For Sale, although as time progresses I must now move things along and start to accept offers for the various bikes / frames, etc.

The Baines International (frame # 571) in which you enquired about the frame size is in very good condition This bike, has, as all the others, has been kept in one of my fathers bedrooms for at least the last 20 years)

I have taken two measurements for the Baines, the first being the vertical tube measuring from the top of cross bar to the TOP of the crank bush, which measures at 19-3/4 inch. The second measurement is taken diagonally from the top of the seat tube again to the Top of the crank bush and this measures in at 22 inch.

I guess another one inch can be added to these dimensions if measuring to the centre of the crank spindle.

I have already had many different offers ranging from what could only be termed as derogatory insults to more realistic market prices.

With respect to a listing of the components, the bikes are to be sold with the parts attached as detailed in the photo's. As I am not a cyclist I am unsure of how you go about listing all the individual parts or provide you with a generic description. If you require specifics part descriptions please let me know and I will forward these as soon as possible.

Meanwhile in order to start bringing this matter to a close I am now asking all interested parties to submit their Best Offer for the items that they are interested in.

Should you still be interested in any of the bikes I kindly ask you to make your best offer by e-mail in Pounds Sterling by November 14th latest.

I order to make life easier please include "Bike Offer" in your title.

I would also appreciate it if you could include your telephone number to enable me call you and discuss shipping and payment methods should your bid be acceptable.

I thank you for your interest and look forward to hearing from you in due course. Meanwhile I remain :-
