The cast badges were always supplied to Alf Hetchin un-painted. He use to have this little old man paint them for him and when you had a frame reconditioned by Hetchin's he use do the repaint on the head badge again. He use to get 2s 6d a badge when I was kid. Alf use to get some of his cast badges made by printer's on Fleet Street ( Stereotypers) there was an old Jewish bloke at St.Stephens Press who use to make some for him. Think they went to the same shul (synagogue). These badges were of excellent quality being made from type metal lead, tin and antimony. They even chrome plated a few. There are some really ropey brass coloured snide copies floating around in the UK.The detail on these is atrocious.

Thats all for now. Keep those wheels spinning, in your memories if not still on the road. Be lucky Mick Butler Huntingdon UK.
