Theres an excellent discussion of the variations of Hetchins headbadges at Flash website. Try here: http://www.hetchins.org/401.htm

There is/was no one headbadge. Of course there was only one at the very beginning, but over the years different variations appeared. Stamped embosssed (raised) brass flat stock, roll engraved flat brass, same but with chrome plating and paint, and a few variations of cast. Hetchins supplied castings were either Mazak (zinc) or brass.

This one does indeed look like, as Chuck said, the Art Stump SS version. Theyre also still available in brass cast from Nick @ Lloyds. Having had Nick's current and one of Art Stump's in hand it is my belief they were cast from same source or each from other. Detailing is similar and hole spacing - one of the keys to the variations is likewise the same. Length and width varied as well, so pictures cant reveal exactly which one youre dealing with. Hole spacing on a frame with missing badge will suggest which badge one is looking to find.

Nick's can be had with nickle or chrome (not sure which he uses) plating. You see them "as cast" brass with and without paint and painted nickle/chrome as well. probabaly someone out there's got an uppainted silver one to. Background paint usually black or blue both with red and white detailing.
