Hello all I have for sale what I think is an EG Bates. It is a complete running bike with a 21 3/4" ctt seat tube with a 22" toptube ctc.Spearpoint lugs and Campag ends The bike has H Bates transfers which maybe wrong. The frame # is 056117 and a diamond stamped next to it with EG (?) in it. I would guess the bike to be very early 1960s and all the equipement seems to be correct as follows
H/f n Record hubs (no "Record") with Mavic Champion du Monde suparoute sprints 32/40 Steel Record rear mech , Record front with stop Record 27.2 pin with Brooks B17 dated 1960 Wienmann deluxe brakes Stronglihght 49D double with Campag Record pedals with toe strap loops Ambrosio bars with unknown stem.
The frame has been refinished at some time and is generally very good apart from a couple of scratches. There is one small ding on one fork blade. The bike came to me in this condition and it does seem to all belong together
