Good Morrow,
I understand that it is customary for "new listers" to enter a missive by
way of introduction. Therefore:
I am new to the concept of "Vintage" bicycles, in that I have always simply
seen my faithful steeds as "my old bikes". Said bikes consisting of a 1968
Nishiki Rally, a 1976 Viscount (both purchased new) and a recently acquired
1972(?) Lambert that I found quite literally in a box at a garage sale!
I had some small difficulties in returning the Lambert to road condition.
First, the rear derailleur, being a Lambert, was of a type with which I was
unfamiliar. In fact, I at first thought it to be incomplete! Second, the
crank, chain ring assembly is held in by a simple bolt with the Lambert "L"
in white on a blue background. It should have been the work of moments to
attach, but the bolt in recessed, and none of the wrenches to which I had
access would fit into the space allotted. Were I a swearing man...
One question for any listers in the Green Bay, WI. area: Is anyone aware of
a "Vintage Friendly" bike shop? The shop I've been patronizing, while
helpful, keeps trying to sell me new components and even new bikes when ever
I go in! (the horror)
That Is far more than I ever intended to write and doubtless more than I'm
liable to write in the future.
Thank you kindly,
Richard Reno
Green Bay, WI.
