Hi Stevan,

Many of the drawings, xeroxes of which Mark put on e-bay, also are available in Vintage Bicycle Quarterly Vol. 2, No. 1 (Fall 2003). That issue contains more than 90 Rebour drawings, all pertaining to the technical trials 1946, 1947 and 1949, plus a center-spread with a Rebour "preview" of "the ideal technical trials bike for 1949."

Each issue of VBQ usually contains numerous Rebour drawings. The next issue has, among others, all but one known Rebour drawings of early Campagnolo Gran Sport derailleurs (the one left out has been reproduced in "The Dancing Chain"), as well as three pages with drawings of Hugo Koblet's Tour de France-winning La Perle from 1951, which was equipped with these derailleurs.

As far as reasonable cost - VBQ subscriptions are $ 30 in the US ($ 57 for two years). Individual issues are $ 10 including postage. More info on my web site, including table of contents of each issue published so far.

Of course, the price of Rebour originals is rather high. I am told that a small collection sold in France for more than $ 200 a "board" (meaning one page spread) a couple of years ago.

To get reasonable quality reproductions of Rebour drawings, considering the yellowing of the original (low quality post-war) magazine paper, you have to make color xeroxes. Black and white xeroxes won't work well at all. Fortunately, Frank Berto has an almost complete (and indexed!) run of Le Cycle, in addition to my rather small collection, and he is reproducing whatever I request from his indexes! If only color xeroxes weren't so costly!

Mark, Since you apparently have some sort of original of the drawings, wouldn't it make some sense to leave the crazy bidding to the Japanese and to sell copies to your friends on the CR list for a reasonable price? They are, after all,
photocopies.
