To Mr. Poore, To All:
Dr. John L. Jellicorse, my advisor, professor, and mentor during my tenure at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a Media Studies major would chastise me if I did not note the following about the film you have listed for sale. A proper translation of the original title would actually be: __The Bicycle THIEVES__ (emph. added). The importance of this is obvious when considering the whole of the work. I doubt you will find any notes on this elsewhere, but it is indeed plural rather than singular.
Regardless, the film is a brilliant one, part of the postwar resuccitation of Italian cinema (though it is interesting to note that unlike other Fascist regimes, Mussolini gave relative latitude and decent financial support to the film industry, at least early on, considering it an integral part of Italian national revival) . Shot on location, director Vittoria De Sica uses the war- ed cityscapes of his homeland to create an early neorealist classic.
Sorry to wander dangerously off-topic, but I couldn't go through the day seeing Dr. Jellicorse scowling in my conscious.
