Bob, I have mounted Retrofriction shifters on the clamps from the cheap plastic Simplex Prestige shift levers like those that came on the Peugeot UO-8. The clamps are actually pretty nice, it was the plastic levers that were crap. A few years ago I bought several pairs of Prestige shifters dirt cheap from Mike Kone just to get the clamps.
