In a message dated 11/23/03 9:28:34 AM Eastern Standard Time, Raoul.L.Delmare@worldnet.att.net writes: Carefully , skillfully , use fine abrasive paper or cloth . Very fine aluminum oxide cloth will do a better job than cheap "sand-paper" . By the way , if you don't know what "Crocus Cloth" is , it's worth learning about ! But mostly it is the patience , and the gentleness , of the person that counts .

3.) Then comes the steel wool , perhaps something like "triple ought" , "000" , to start with .

The only additions to Raoul's fine explanation of his polishing process would be that silicon carbide (wet or dry) sandpaper can be used instead of aluminum oxide paper or emery cloth. If you work up to 400 or 600 grit paper using the wet method (my preference), you can skip the 000 wool and proceed directly to 0000. Also, Mother's Mag Wheel polish is an alternative to Simichrome. A buffing wheel speeds up the process and I wear cheap, disposable latex gloves to keep my hands clean.
