Chuck,

Man, looking at that photo of Peters BB shell with the fillets really shows the workmanship on that thing! It's a shame to cover that with paint, almost. For those who don't know this; that BB shell began life as a George Fischer sand cast BB shell. Exactly the shell that is on all early Cinelli frames. You know, the ones with all the charming(sincerely) bastard file marks in them? Most of you don't know what they look like in the raw condition, but that is one magnificent piece of work. That photo gets me all excited! It's pure art and sex at the same time! Really. I'm glad there are photos of the raw frame, now all you need is a photo of a raw Cinelli shell to compare it to. He did a masterful job; I'll bet by the time it got to the stage we see, there was somewhere between 4 and 6 hours work there. Oh yeah, the whole bike is like that!

Bob, the pictures were part of Dale's photos he took at Velo Rendezvous III this October. The VR III show report on Dale's Classic Rendezvous site is not linked correctly, so is not working currently.

I have put the jpegs of the Peter Johnson bottom bracket on my web site so you can access them:

Plus the photo of Sean Smith and Peter with Guy Apple's bare (naked) PJ frame (it is currently at Brian Baylis's to be painted). In the foreground is my green Peter Johnson that won Best of Show at Le Cirque this year.

The naked frame won "Best Lugs" at VR III by the way.
