An interesting sidenote to Headclips in comparison with modern integrated headsets ;

You come across post-war and earlier headclip frames with the headtubes having bearing races a 'rattling-good-fit' in their cups, i.e. slack because of continual running with them badly adjusted - i.e. loose. Maybe Cinelli et.al should have looked back when they were looking forward to Integrated Headsets that ruin frames before wearing out the head bearings. Makes you think that this may well have been the main cause of the demise of integrated head bearings the first time round. Watch out for Campags 2003 TdF celebratory integrated headset from the Campagnolo Dejavu range.....(free Loctite bearing fit included)
