What's a "peapicker"? Something like a Schwinn Sting Ray? I hated those things - once you learned to do a wheelstand I felt they were worthless. Maybe if I secretly longed for a motorcycle... Now, $650 for a tire? Cheers, Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia The Peapicker was the green edition of the Stingray Krate series. Lemon Peeler, Orange Krate (there's an original in our showroom window), Apple Krate, Grey Ghost, Grape Krate (controversial edition)Cotton Picker, and maybe others. The reason these get such high prices are that most of them might have had an abused life and had been ridden harder that your average lightweight, but also because the crowd that appreciates them have many crossover aficionados in the motorhead world. These were called polo bikes originally and muscle bikes in later years. A mint original at the top of it's price value is a trickle compared to what that era's Shelby Mustang, Hemi Cuda, or Harley Panhead collector would invest in his or her coach. A decent paint job alone on a motorbike or collector car can get into five figures.

Enjoy the ride
