Except for the Suntour VGT RD (a very fine derailleur indeed). It would have almost certainly been a Shimano Crane paired with the Shimano Titlist front derailleur and Shimano shifters.

If it has a honking freewheel (28t or better), the VGT is probably the better bet. I'm not sure how large a cog the Crane will cover because it is a fairly short cage.

Johm: If you want to bring it back to full stock, let me know. I have a Crane RD in the pile o' parts looking to be bikes. I suppose I picked it up at some point as a spare for my 1975-6 Aerospace Pro.
