IIRC, Phil hubs started being available in 1970, 1971 or 1972. The only possible reason I can think of against using them is whether or not they have teeth on the surface that grips the drop out. If they are smooth, you need fairly high clamping pressure to keep the wheel from slipping in a sprint. If that's not an issue and you like the way they look, go for it!
