Subject: [CR]Help Frame Repair !! Possible ??

About 2 years ago I was given a '72 Raleigh International frame that was in a sad state. It was one that hadn't had the BB brazed properly at the Factory. Raleigh had simply replaced the frame, so mine had been brazed locally, then left to get banged about in the LBS basement. As a result the finish was bad, and the BB shell had a flattened area on one side that was about 3/4" around the shell, and maybe 3/32" deep.

I tried straightening the shell. No dice. Maybe an even bigger gorilla could have done better, but I couldn't, and I am 6' 1" and 210. So, I simply filed the inside roughly circular again, then chased the threads.

I am still riding it today, it's never been a problem, and being "down there", I can't see the blemish.

Obviously, the depth of the dent is the crux of the matter. it can't be so deeply dented that you can't file and then chase, and still have metal left.

Oh, and I painted the bike too. Looks sorta nice, if a bit plain, but the chrome's excellent, and more than compensates........is anyone else a sucker for chromed Nervex Pro's ??
