Could it perhaps something to do with the very special and close relationship between Cino Cinelli and Aldo Colombo? As already mentioned by others earlier, Schwinn and others tried to replicate the same geometry as Cinelli for their own bikes but the results were never the same. This would therefore tend to point to either brazing workmanship, tubing or lugs and their interrelationships as the cause of the different ride characteristics. Andrea Cinelli wrote a short time ago that his father received 'special' tubes from Colombo. Given that Colombo later bought the Cinelli comapny when Cino decided to retire, there is perhaps good grounds to believe that Cinelli received tubing different from other builders. Any other thoughts or comments?
