I have been offered a Colnago track bike by a friend in Italy, supposedly it is my size. The friend knows very little about the bike or its previous history. Are there any special telltale characteristics that can help me age the bike (wheelbase, lugs, dropouts...?) Are there any vintages that are more or less desirable? As he has no digital camera, I have to ask him to photograph the interesting parts and get the pictures developed and then mailed to me. As this is a long and drawn out procedure, I don't want to forget any needed photo. My other alternative is to buy blindly which has its own surprises.
