First, let me thank everyone for responses to my question about long pivot bolts.
I tried the trick of using the front brake on the back, and although everything seemed to line up on the bike when I was "eyeballing" it, when I bolted the brake up, the reach was not quite long enough.
So, now I think I am going to look for a nice set of Campy long reach brakes. If anyone has a set for sale, please let me know.
