In the latest (Jan/Feb 2004) Bicycling, p. 20 (under "Spin!"), almost a page dedicated to the Alex Singer shop. You have got to love it! Clash of civilizations, or something like that...
The headline is "Grumpy & French" and they call it the "high church of retro-grouchery." Ernest Csuka will not be amused!
Ernest Csuka, the owner, is quoted for what must be their standard questions: "Music: I never listen to music while working. I have enough to do - I don't need any distrations" "Drink on the workbench: Like I said, no distractions."
They claim Singers from the 50s and 60s sell for $ 10,000-20,000 - hmm, I wonder where.
The photo shows Ernest Csuka, looking somewhat grumpy at those Americans who ask him stupid questions instead of focusing on the bikes. Of course, they don't dare to show one of his bikes, lest people start wondering why they spend good money on the plastic bikes advertised throughout the mag.
As so often, if you don't know what Singer is about, you won't find out from this article!
And no, I don't subscribe to B... (got it as a gift (insult?) from a charity for donating a little over the required amount).
