Subject: [CR]Opinions on Pedal Refletors

The mid-80's Mercier I just purchased came with Specialized-marked Suntour Superbe pedals, very nice, but probably neither original nor correct. I have a pretty good pair of Maillard platform pedals I plan to use. These are the ones similar to Campy Victory, with adjustable toe clips. Only problem is the reflectors on the back cage plates, which seem to have always come on this pedal. They are secured by the same rivets that secure the cage plate, so one can't easily remove them. I could cut them off, then clean up the flash metal with a Dremel tool. What do you think? Is it better to cut them off or leave them to preserve the original CPSC-dictated tackiness of the mid-80's era?
