You might remember my earlier postings on the list, under a title something like 'searching for a Cinelli'. I really agonized over this one but decided just to let it pass because: - it's at least 2-3 cm too tall for me, and for any other male of average height. I contacted the seller shortly after the bike appeared on eBay to check out the standover height. I could ride it but only at some risk if I have to dismount quickly. - the chrome is in poor shape and this is very hard to fix. The problems don't show up that clearly in the eBay photos. However, this bike came from Carsten's collection. You can see more photos on his web site, http://www.cyclo-24.de/history/17/index_en.htm . While I thought it would be neat to own a bike from his collection (without buying into a grab bag auction), I'd much rather have his other Cinelli, http://www.cyclo-24.de/history/11/index_en.htm with the bivalent wheels. - Notice that the bottom bracket on this one is 74 mm wide; I was worried that this would make it difficult to fit a proper Campy crank, although I can think of a few things that might make it work. - I don't have the money - although I do have a line of credit if the right bike comes along. Let me know if you have a late 60's / early 70's 56 cm Cinelli SC that they want to sell, preferably in silver.

I have been watching this bike since it was first listed, expecting somebody to out it to the list. Not only was it not outed, but it is also not attracting bids. Is this a case where the high starting bid scares people away? While the parts and the frame are not perfect, they are in keeping with the age of the bike. Perhaps there are a number of snipe bids all stored away with one of the numerous snipe services out there?
