Dave built quite a few frames for my shop in the mid '80's. I had a custom 100 series in candy red that Brian painted when he and Dave had adjacent shops. Wonderful handling bike! Point and Shoot. I gave Dave a bad time about the alignment, though...the right dropout must have slipped down when brazing and the rear wheel sat decidedly closer to the right seatstay. It was hard to embarass Dave but he was sensitive about that frame.15 minutes with a file straightened it out but it always tickled me to hear of Dave's perfect alignment. I had a great ride on it in the 1986 Davis Double Century.

I agree with Brian, Dave was a master at brazing brass and I really enjoyed the conversations, arguments and the wonderful bikes he built for my shop.

Rest in Peace, Dave.
