Hi Bob, hi all,
As Dirk had already pointed out, Karl-Heinz Lueders was (and still is) a codgy old scrooge. I think I only saw him smile once, and that was when I paid him. He had this nice little thing that he wouldn`t paint his bikes black or white because both are not colors. So no black or white Lueders. The german cycling league team R.C. Charlottenburg rode Lueders bikes (ugly yellow-blue faders). He stopped making bikes in `97 but reportedly still fixes them. There was a blue track Lueders on ebay not too long ago; too small though. I`d be happy to dig into the local press archives and my "tour" magazines to find out more. An other great name of Berlin framebuilders is "Paupitz". I was offered a very sexy nervex-lugged silver track bike from the late `70s last week, but for too much moolah. nice nonetheless. Paupitz still runs a bikestore here in Berlin, and coincidentally is Lueders equal in grumpiness. Maybe more on that in the future ...
keeping his eyes peeled in Berlin, kim klakow
PS: Don`t forget Krautschneid (Krabo), Enik, Kalhoff, Schauff, Gudereit, Renz or Kotter! Or even Hercules at that.
