This escapes me... What was the lesson that bidder number 2 was supposed to learn from the high bidder? He didn't win the auction but he also didn't pay $565 for a seat clamp that typically sells for $30. I don't see anything wrong with how bidder 2 approached the auction (or at least not anything that deserves 'shaming').

It looks like an expensive point to prove by the high bidder if he had no need for the item. I could understand if the high bidder had instead driven the price up to a point just under bidder 2's price (say $400), so that bidder 2 had to pay an inflated price. Was there some unusual bidding practice in a prior auction that I'm not aware of? Or do you have some personal knowledge of the bidders involved (" the lesson was learned")?

Always keen to learn new Ebay strategy...

Prior to the first auction, these clamps would normally have sold for $30, now it appears that they are more common than they were before, so the price has come down.
