Hi Charles, I wonder if you could also post this, since I'm not on the list:

My response

As always, whenever there's any publicity that on the surface is good, I have mixed emotions about it. I'll bet most people who get articles written about them feel the same. Friends and family think it's cool, and it sort of is, but I'd rather have the story be longer and the photo be smaller. As it is, about 800 words or so, it sort of got lopped off just below the peaks, and much of what I wanted to say was chopped. I'm not complaining, just stating a fact. So, I read it and wince and curse every other paragraph. The people who work here‹Robert, Mark, Mo, Bhima, Diana, Sterling (new guy, Bhima's replacement), Rich, and Mary‹deserve more ink than they'll EVER get, because "lone trend-bucking wolf" stories have more appeal than "team effort." And for heaven's sake, yes, of COURSE I gave credit to Curt. The figures listed aren't accurate, but close enough. Our costs are high, and it's hard to be profittable the way we're going, but this HAS been our best year ever, so I'm happy 'bout that. I don't like the emphasis on how much I love those heavy steel bikes. I didn't say it that way. But I did like the (too huge) closeup of our lug on the head tube of a bike. That part, no complaints. Yahoo. Anyway, on another topic: We're going to make a great mixte next year. Also: Tom K., please call. Grant Petersen Sent to Charles Nighbor by Grant himself both in Walnut Creek, CA
