I'm curious about the stresses that apply to tubular tire rim attachment on track bikes as opposed to road bikes. Are there greater detachment forces on a tire when riding at a steeped bank track than when riding on the road with it's uneven surface and differing turns? I feel safer with the presumably somewhat less strong Tufo tape (as opposed to glue) on my track bike, but perhaps it should be the other way around? Too many crashes this year has made my left knee a three time loser, and me nervous.
Are track detachments fairly common? The experienced Larry should know.
