since tere is a threrad currently about gluing tires, i have a question about that. I got some rims that have a gluebed of "Clement" red glue on them. What would be the best way to remove that? i tried gazoline (the stuff you put in your "Zippo" lighter - it works well with the white glue) and turpentine ersatz but that didn't bring me far.
any suggestion appreciated!
Martin Appel Munich, Germany\ Martin, et al We never worried abot getting all the glue off. We scraped what came off without much trouble with a screwdriver. We got most of the edges down to the rim with the blade dragged across the rim and then ran the tip of the blade down the belly of the rim. The remaining dried glue in the center we missed dissolved enough with the new glue and formed a great base for a secure bond.
Our stash still includes a carton of road and track Clement cement tubes but
I am not so PC (parts correct) that I'd worry about a judge asking what cement
I used on a show machine.
