While I think I have a good grasp on the Mafac centerpull brakes, the cantis continue to baffle me:
1. Two lengths ("Criterium" and "Tandem"), plus the special "Driver" models. That is fine.
2. Some are alloy, some are steel. I have a set of long-arm "tandem" steel ones from about 1958/59. Everything that is alloy or brass on later ones is steel (except the straddle wire end barrel piece). Very nicely chromed. Were the alloy ones already available then? Were short "Criterium" ones made in steel, too? Or did they make a short alloy model and a long steel model, later changing the long model to alloy, too?
3. Logos: I have seen at least three: Mafac in a circle, Mafac as a lozenge (small "M" bigger "A" big "F" smaller "A" small "C") and the current one. When were these logos used?
4. Anything I am missing?
Thanks for your insights!
