So, with a frame with the following specs - 126mm rear spacing, 68mm bottom bracket, chainstays 46cm (c-c) long, which Campy bottom bracket do I need for my standard 52/42/36 NR triple setup?
Does anybody know what the part munber would be for the entire unit or spindle alone? Can anybody out therre direct me to a source - short of a Phil Wood unit? -------------
Too little information, I'm afraid. First issue is whether the crank assembly is "pre-CPSC" or "post-CPSC"; the 1978 and later have an extra 1.5 mm. on the right to accomodate the "lip" on the front derailleur required to meet CPSC regs. If the latter, Bicycle Classics/Allan Schaeffer has the part. If you have the earlier cranks, you will probably need a "non-lip" front derailleur, but you should be able to use the same spindle, IF: (1) If necessary for clearance or alignment front-and-rear, add a FW spacer inside the right cup. They come in 1, 1.5, and 2 mm. thicknesses. If that means the left cup doesn't show enough thread, replace it with a "thick" Campy cup (not offered with the triple) and you should be ok.
I'm going through the same thing now, but with one add'l permutation: 70 mm Italian BB. Fortunately there's a good collection of BB cups in the stash, but Rick Cool and I spent a bit of time Saturday getting the spacings sorted out. And Joe B-Z may have come up with the correct part!
Good luck,
