There are so many factors that go into why one auction gets more hits than another that it would be very hard to explain it all in one simple response. I did see on a forum some time ago this simple statement...
"I don't bid because I really want the item, I bid so the other guy doesn't get the item." A bidding frenzy is a great thing for the seller but not so great for the buyer.
