Chris, back when these machines were "young and beautiful", that is current state of the art, you took pride in the fact that your bike was not stock, not as delivered, not "correct".
You made it _your_ bike by continually upgrading the parts, until you sold it and got a "better" bike (they weren't always better, but they were newer).
If you don't care for the Nuovo Record chainrings, don't run them. Swap them out for the Super Record rings. I will tell you though that the Nuovo Record chainrings provided the "canvas" for all the artfully drilled and pantographed chainrings (inner ring [web?] is cut off for starts).
