Peter, as a cyclocross racer for the last 4 years (2 Virginia State Championship Bronze medals) I must admit much of it rings true. A funny piece of writing. I also can atest to the hilarious description of Gunnar Shogren's mullet. I usually saw it in the 35+ MAC races twice...at the start and when he lapped me. My cobbled together steel VooDoo (former owner Jeremy Powers who used it at Worlds in 2000) with old 105 parts is simply not zoot enough anymore. Yes our Mid Atlantic Championship was cancelled because of snow! (not by us, Squadra Coppi, the promoter). The county parks dept didn't want us to chew up the park (the thought of 'crossin' with 5 inches of snow sounded great).....which is silly because we resched'd the race for tomorrow with lots of sno-melt mud. Yes the whole cool laid back atmosphere of cross is getting abit uptight with all this high dollar equipment. And no, I don't have 6 wheel sets, one for each weather pattern. Just one. If I flat, tough cheese.
