I recently ordered some TA pedals thru a list member, two pairs English, one French. He has gotten back to me to say that TA now makes only one pedal thread, slightly larger than French, which is supposed to work with both French and English crankarms. I would not touch such a "one size fits all" product from any other company, but TA has long been known for outstanding engineering, albeit with the usual French idiosyncrasies. Does anyone else know anything about these? It is true that the two threads are close, French arms are easily tapped to English, and one can force English pedals into a French arm, or thread French pedals somewhat loosely into an English arm. But not only are the thead diameters a little different, but the pitch is not identical. Has anyone actually used these pedals? This may lend some credence to an account I posted on the list a couple of years ago about my 1973 Lejeune coming with French pedals installed in English crankarms, which I did not discover until upgrading the pedals a year later. Some list members were skeptical of that accound at the time.
