Forcing pedals, especially British (9/16 inch) into the smaller French (14mm) is not usually easy I would think. As I have never done it, how would I know? I have removed many and that was hard and significant damage occurs. Almost all I have seen were cross threaded to boot.
Upon the introduction of Look clipless pedals in the early 80's, it was common for French mechanics that used no 9/16 inch pedals ordinarily to force these new high tech items into the only crank they used (French threaded that is). Look to my knowledge never sold clipless pedals with French threads even in France from what I have seen. In our area we had lots of French cyclists transferred in for work and this was universal problem.
French mechanics in some areas certainly know the difference but I suspect many did not (as well as American mechanics, "hey boss, these pedals sure are stiff going in").
I converted my Rene Herse's TA cranks to 9/16 inch pedals (Marcel Berthet strangely) as soon as I received it with lots of oil and the right pedal tap and it's held for 20 years and 40 K miles. I think a cross threaded pedal conversion would require a Helio Coil Insert.
My feeling is also TA is a reputable company but mixing threading sounds bogus as the standards are far apart in reality. Different pitch, thread count and diameter. It is conceivable someone could play with pitch and thread height and otherwise form a compromise. I suspect the legendary durability of TA cranks would not survive long term.
One thing I must add. French threaded pedals are not used in France on lightweight equipment much anymore, I mean try to by some. TA may be the only manufacturer. Why would they build their standard around 14mm, when there is such a small market for them? Does anyone know any pedals marked "BSC."

Hi, allI can comment on is that the standard pedal thread is 9/16 BSF,
that is british standard fine, it is finer that BSC ( british standard
coarse ) and coarser than UNF ( unified national fine ), 9/16" works out
at 14.28mm, so its a little bigger. I have never had any pedals other
than the normal so can't really comment on what can be done, but I would
think that the 2 could not be mixed, I know whan I fitted my campagnolo
pedals to my Galli cranks I needed to run a tap down the thread to get it
to fit, a proper pedal tap has a taper on it to allow for a slight
variation on pedal spindle threads, just my 5 cents worth, it maybe
