I *have* seen at least one Superissimo frame that had fluted caps. I suspect the earliest Superissimos (the ebay Superissimo is one such) had the fluted caps, and later ones did not.

I thought our list-member Johan did a nice job of elucidating Colnago's policy in 1979 and 80. You could custom-order just about any darned thing you wanted. Graphics, finish-details...this kind of thing can give a collector fits, of course.
