Oh, I better add something so this isn't just an atta-boy. I think
reproductions have a very important role to play in our hobby and
that's one of the main reasons behind starting Ivycycles. I want to
ride the same kinds of bikes Oscar Egg and "Mile-a-Minute" Murphy did
and ride them heavily. On the longshot that I could actually find such
a bike I don't think I'd be willing to take it out for 25 in the rain.
After reading a Lillian Jackson Braun mystery novel I decided I need to
build a Thanet Silverlite like her main character Jim Qwilleran rides.
These bikes are bikes I'll most likely never be able buy, but I can
make reproductions. I won't ever try to pass them off as the originals
and will make changes to the original designs to "improve" them. It's
not about the original it's about the spirit of the original.
