Perhaps this is apropos of nothing. But when I read the following, I thought about the ongoing dialogue on this list about the cost of buying the things we love.
This quote is from a Los Angeles Times article on a gentlemen who has repaired clocks at the same L.A. location since 1960. Talking about one of his favorite clocks, he said:
"Today there is no price for what is antique," says Ricardo. "If you buy it for $1,000, and you like it, you're happy."
By the way, his wife commented:
"His life is the clocks," says Elsie of her obsessed husband. "He can stay day and night. I could bring a bed, and he'd stay here."
I can relate to that.
