We're really suffering in Orlando too. This past weekend we had two great days of shorts and shortsleeved riding. Listmember Jonathan Greene shows up with lugged (well, steel anyway) steel and along with me, we join up with the pro level triathletes and local road racers at Windemere (a high zoot town if there ever was one with residents such as Shaquille O'Neal, Tiger Woods, Wesley Snipes, Orel Hershiser, and a slew of others who have waay too much money). This past weekend the group blew past us and I noticed the usual sprinkling of aluminum, carbon, and titanium, but whoa, what's that, a Bridgestone RB1 with downtube shifters!!?? The rider didn't look like he was suffering any from that boat anchor he was riding. We stayed with them for about a mile until one of our riders dropped out and I graciously (gulping air) dropped back to ride with him. Jonathan was holding his own, but he too succumbed to the comraderie of the our small group. About 15 miles out, we passed a girl riding by herself. She says, "any idea where Hwy 27 is? I'm supposed to meet people there." I say, "well, yeah, I know where 27 is, but you should have turned about 8 miles back to get there." So, she joins us and I'm sure was telling her friends later that these guys were riding a bunch of old steel bikes which is why she was able to keep up with us. We're in full springtime here in central Florida. For those of you who are sick of the cold, come on down--beer is always free at my house. Lou Deeter, Orlando FL
