I thought this was waaaay to easy a question to bug the whole 700+ member team with, but after a couple of listies came up short, I guess the answer can only come from the collective experience of the group!

Is anyone sure _what year_ the NR/SR down tube shifter changed from "bumpy" around the edge to the later "smooth" version?
