This lack of incongruity is consistent with a lot of modern Japanese culture. Someone will build a attractive house with a neat garden, and then stick a cheap metal ugly brown storage shed in the middle of the picture. You can ride your bike down a lovely country lane that deadends at a mountain stream, just the place that someone finds appropriate for dumping a old washing machine. Educated, but not a lot of sense. I've stopped trying to figure it out....sigh:(
