Hi y'all
Got discussing this topic off-list, and it changed my perspective on the "issue" (sorry, bad pun)
The light bulb came on for me today, that actually, maybe a high percentage of examples of top end road bikes that exist from the 50's to the 60's (early 70's?) are probably "real" race bikes, built for a team or racer. It was pointed out to me that your average guys and dolls didn't stroll into a bikeshop and pick a "pro" level bike off the wall and take it to the cash register. (that only started happening when?)
Anyone disagree that the brands used by pro riders sold virtually no high-end "team-like-model" bikes to the non-racer consumer?
