Hey all, thanks for the input! That's 7 votes for NO, and 0 for YES. Hard to argue with unanimity coming through a list like this.

The only reason I even considered it, although I forgot to mention it, is that the bike has already been repainted, and so no original finish to preserve. However, it's clear to me now that preservation means much more than just paint and decals; it's also about the bike itself, of course. 'Twas just a thought that I wanted to run past those with experience (as I have none), and I am most appreciative for the straight answers I received. The Torpado track bike stays original. Albeit, it might have to stay original while 'resting' in my home, being pampered and coddled (no, not fondled), until it is passed on to the next caretaker that it fits. I call it the "buy it to borrow it" plan, and if I do, I promise not to keep it cooling for too long. Thanks again...
